Multiple Business Burglaries in South Vero Ends with Arrest of Two Suspects

Indian River County - Monday February 6, 2023: Indian River County Sheriff Deputies arrested 57-year-old Gary Robin Kirkland last Thursday afternoon, February 2, on burglary and vehicle theft allegations.

According to a release from the IRCSO, the events leading up to his apprehension began shortly after noon Thursday when IRC Sheriff Deputies responded to a burglary in the 400 block of 1st Street. Upon arrival the Deputies learned of another burglary in the vicinity.

The suspect's vehicle was identified but then abandoned, and he than stole a vehicle from Dyer Mazda and fled south into St. Lucie County.

The IRCSO HAWK helicopter tracked the vehicle and directed ground units to it where Kirkland was detained, with the assistance of the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office.
He was taken to the St. Lucie County Jail on multiple charges. Kirkland is described as a career offender from Miami.

SECOND ARREST

The following night, Friday February 3, 31-year-old Jacqueline Crews was arrested by IRCSO Deputies on various drug charges. She was also identified as a suspect in the previous day's "noontime crime spree" with Kirkland.

The case is still active and an additional arrest and other charges are pending.
