Indian River County - Friday February 17, 2023: The Indian River County Sheriff's Office reports that a pedestrian was struck and killed shortly after 6 a.m. this morning, Friday February 17, by a Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) freight train.
The sheriff reports that an FEC railway worker contacted them at 6:09 a.m. to advise that a train had hit a pedestrian just north of the 12th Street crossing.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, no identify has been released yet.
The freight train was stopped while FEC personnel and Sheriff Deputies conducted an investigation.
