Okeechobee County - Monday February 20, 2023: The Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office received reports on Friday from students and staff at Osceola Middle School that two former students had made written threats to kill or seriously injury individuals at the school.
The threats were posted on the Social Media Platform Snapchat on the evening of Thursday, February 16.
The former students were quickly identified. Both of them are 14 year old boys.
Okeechobee County Sheriff Deputies went to the home of one of the boy's. He "positively identified the snapchat conversation as his" and he was arrested
at his home and taken to the Okeechobee County Jail, where he was charged with making Written Threats to Kill or Cause bodily Injury. He was then released to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
The other boy is currently a student at Southwest Middle School in Palm Bay. That school's resource officer and Palm Bay Police were contacted and informed about the written threats. A Warrant was issued on a charge of making Written Threats to Kill or Cause Bodily Injury. The boy's last know location was in Palm Bay and his arrest is pending.
Contact was made with the Palm Bay Police Department and the School Resource Office for Southwest Middle School to inform them of the written threats.
