Fort Pierce - Tuesday February 21, 2023: Fort Pierce Police today announced that they arrested 30 year old Derick Pinkney of Fort Pierce last Friday following the shooting death of a 54-year-old Fort Pierce man. Pickney was charged with Homicide – Murder Dangerous Depraved w/o Premeditation.
A news release from the FPPD Tuesday states that the shooting happened after a verbal argument turned into a physical altercation between the victim and Pinkney while playing dominos.
Pinkney remained on the scene after the incident and identified himself as the suspect when officers arrived after the shooting.
It happened in the 2500 block of Avenue K in Fort Pierce. Officers responded to the call around 8:15 p.m. Upon arrival they found the 54-year-old suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital where he later died from his wounds. The identity of the victim has not been released.
