Port St. Lucie - Wednesday February 22, 2023: Mattamy Homes has broken ground on its 'Heart in the Park' sculpture at Tradition.
Heart in the Park will be built along Tradition Trail, commonly known as the T-Trail, as one of a series of planned experiences. Other planned experiences include Stars and Stripes Park, nature trails, SoGro Amphitheatre and Tradition Regional Park.
“We strive to create a sense of place at each of our projects by fusing art, culture and community,” said Dan Grosswald, Mattamy’s Southeast Florida Division President. “Heart in the Park truly represents the heart of Tradition—a place for residents to spark new connections, interact and enjoy the outdoors.”
The groundbreaking ceremony took place last week on Valentine’s Day, Tuesday, Feb. 14.
At 73 feet in height, Heart in the Park will be the tallest heart sculpture in the world. It will serve as a signature art element and community space in Tradition at Village Parkway and Discovery Way. It will be adjacent to the 71,000-square-foot Shoppes at the Heart commercial center, which recently announced several confirmed tenants.
Designed by internationally acclaimed artist JEFRË, the sculpture’s gentle twist will rise above a circular pedestal measuring 30 feet in diameter. The design recalls St. Louis’s iconic Gateway Arch. The sun will create reflections on the sculpture’s stainless steel, polished surface, which will transform nightly with LED lights.
The sculpture will sit atop a raised plaza designed to align with the Shoppes at the Heart project. In addition to vehicular parking, golf cart and bicycle parking, along with a T.I.M. stop for Tradition’s autonomous shuttle system is being provided, along with public seating/gathering areas to allow the site to be used for public events.
