Fort Pierce - Thursday February 23, 2023: The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) announced that St. Lucie County has once again received GFOA’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR award).
The PAFR award represents a significant achievement by the entity. To be eligible for the PAFR award, a government must also submit its annual comprehensive financial report to GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellent in Financial Reporting Program and receive the Certificate for the current fiscal year. Each eligible report is reviewed by judges who evaluate the report based on the following categories: reader appeal, understandability, distribution methods, creativity, and other elements.
Prior to announcing the PAFR award, the GFOA also awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to St. Lucie County for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2021. This report has once again been judged by an impartial panel to meet the highest standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit, professional organization comprised of more than 20,000 federal, state, and local government finance professionals.
