Indian River County - Wednesday March 1, 2023: The Indian River County Sheriff's Office reports that a house fire Monday led to the arrest of the resident who was wanted on an active felony warrant.

Indian River County Fire and Rescue responded to the residential home after multiple neighbors reported that it was on fire. IRCSO Deputies also responded to assist and check for any occupants of the home.

On arrival they found the home's occupant, 34 year old Wyatt Guy, standing in the backyard trying to put the fire out with a garden hose.

When the Deputies approached him, Guy fled back into the burning residence and locked himself inside. Deputies made numerous attempts to get Guy out as the home became fully engulfed with smoke. Guy finally emerged, but fled again from the deputies.

After a brief chase, he was taken into custody after actively resisting the deputies attempting to arrest him. Later the Deputies learned that Guy was wanted for violation of probation on 2 felony charges and 1 misdemeanor failure to appear charge. He was confined at the Indian River County.

Indian River Fire and Rescue successfully extinguish the fire and prevented damage to the neighboring properties. The Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the blaze.
