Port St. Lucie - Wednesday March 1, 2023: A Port St. Lucie Police patrol car was rear ended Tuesday morning by a woman who police say was fleeing the scene of another crash. There were no injuries in either crash.
54-Year-Old Karen Griffen was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash, felony driving while license suspended, and habitual traffic offender. She was also cited for no proof of insurance and having an expired registration.
In a release, PSLPD report that the initial fender bender began at the East Port Shopping Plaza. Griffen , in a white Kia reportedly fled the scene at a high rate of speed. She fled north on U.S. #1 where officers were able to stop her vehicle on Crosstown Pkwy near Floresta Dr., during which she bumped into the rea of one of the patrol cars. She was found not to have had a valid driver’s license since 2018.
