Fort Pierce Police Detectives Seize More than 2 Kilos of Narcotics

Fort Pierce Police Department

Fort Pierce - Thursday March 2, 2023: Detectives from the Fort Pierce Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit have arrested 31-year-old Michael Wayne Adams of Saint Lucie County on multiple drug charges after seizing more than 2.25 kilos of the narcotic known as 'bath salts' from his vehicle.

Adams was the subject of an ongoing narcotics investigation initiated by the Crime Suppression Unit. He was wanted on outstanding felony warrants.

According to a release from the Fort Pierce Police Department, "during the lawful execution of a search warrant of Adams’ vehicle," detectives seized 2 ¼ kilos of the designer drug MDPV. MDPV is commonly known as “bath salts” because the drug is produced to look like bath salts to disguise its true nature. The chemical name for MDPV is Methylenedioxypyrovalerone. Detectives also seized fifty-two grams of Fentanyl.

Adams was charged with trafficking in MDPV and Fentanyl.

During his arrest, police say Adams attempted to bribe the arresting officer. As a result he was also charged with Bribery and Resisting Arrest Without Violence, an accusation lodged against a suspect accused of a non-violent obstruction of a law enforcement officer during an arrest.

Adams is currently being held at the Saint Lucie County Jail on a bond over $1,000,000.
