FORT PIERCE — St. Lucie County residents and businesses may be owed a share of $146,358 in unclaimed checks held by the St. Lucie County Clerk & Comptroller's Office.
The current list includes 277 individuals and businesses with outstanding funds from checks issued in 2024. The money comes from cash bonds, property auction payments, court registry and grand jury payments, and recording fee overpayments.
"Claims range anywhere from $1 to more than $10,000," Clerk Michelle R. Miller said. "Every dollar counts, and I strongly encourage everyone to visit our website to see if their name or business is on the list."
The Clerk's Office publishes a list each year of checks that were issued but never cashed or deposited. In some cases, recipients may have moved without updating their mailing address.
Residents and businesses can search the list and download a claim form through the Clerk's Office website. Claims must be postmarked by Aug. 31, 2026.
After the Clerk's Office verifies a claim form, a replacement check will be mailed to the recipient.
Unclaimed funds related to St. Lucie County government business activities will be included in a separate list next spring.
