The Indian River County Sheriff's Office Real-Time Crime Center assisted the Florida Highway Patrol in identifying a vehicle connected to a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a bicyclist Sunday.
While reviewing investigative leads, an IRCSO RTCC analyst identified a vehicle matching the description of the suspected truck, including a missing passenger-side mirror.
Using Flock Safety technology and other investigative resources, the analyst identified the vehicle, its license plate and associated driver information. The information was provided to FHP investigators for follow-up.
FHP later located the vehicle identified by the RTCC and confirmed that it was connected to the fatal crash.
The sheriff's office said the investigation remains ongoing and that its Real-Time Crime Center continues to assist law enforcement officers and investigators by analyzing available information and identifying investigative leads.
The agency said tools such as Flock Safety are used alongside trained analysts to help identify vehicles and advance investigations.
