Race for Recovery

Race for Recovery

The Annual Race for Recovery 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Walk will be held on Saturday, September 23 at 7:30 a.m., at Indian River State College’s Pruitt Campus in Port St. Lucie. New Horizons of the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee is honored to have presenting sponsor HealthCite Pharmacy lacing up alongside us, ready to run as we race to raise awareness and support for addiction recovery, suicide and the mental health care needs of our communities most vulnerable populations.
Registration for the race is $35 until September 15 when fees increase to $40. Everyone who signs up until race day morning at 7:00 a.m., will receive a technical shirt, a participation medal, continental breakfast including perennial favorite sponsor Natalie’s Orchid Island and a fantastic selection of local juices, entertainment and best of all – swag! Male and female age group winners will be awarded super prizes from local participating businesses. If that weren’t enough to have you lining up, there will also be energetic music to keep everyone moving along with timing by MCM Timers for those looking to beat their personal best.
“Our goal is not only aimed at raising awareness about mental health and substance abuse, but also at showcasing the availability of help and support through New Horizons and Healthcite Pharmacy. By participating in this event, runners and supporters will help send a powerful message that individuals in need can find the assistance they require.” said Tony Jannu, CEO at HealthCite. “We believe it is crucial to foster open conversations about mental health and substance abuse, through this fundraising run, we aim to encourage dialogue, raise awareness, and show everyone that help is available. Together, we can make a profound impact on the lives of those in need” added Deepak Sharma, HealthCite Pharmacy COO.

Proceeds support mental health and addiction recovery services for 15,000 children and adults at New Horizons inpatient and outpatient facilities across the Treasure Coast and in Okeechobee.
New Horizons is the largest mental health and substance abuse agency in the region, with eight offices across four counties. More than half of New Horizons clients have no source of income or insurance, yet no one is turned away due to lack of financial resources.
William Wims, CEO at New Horizons shared “The Race for Recovery is simply a fun, family friendly time to show up for this great mission. We have an incredible board of directors, sponsors, staff and friends, but the Race really is about community. We appreciate all our supporters and their friends in 2023 who show up and out for this good time.”

By reaching out to the community with education, support and services that are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, New Horizons strives to prevent another suicide by being a part of the healing process.
In addition to participating in the run/walk, sponsoring the race is an excellent way to show the community you endorse essential mental health services. Sponsors receive race registrations, logo placement, website and social media recognition, and more. Special thanks to presenting sponsors HealthCite Pharmacy and platinum sponsors AOI Insurance, Fleet Feet, and Harry & Bulah Shaw.
