Why Art Matters in Science, presentation by Dr. Edie Widder, ORCA
Join us on May 11 at 6pm at The Riverhouse in Vero Beach for a special presentation by ORCA's Dr. Edie Widder, Why Art Matters in Science.
Art matters to science because it can offer new perspectives and stimulate new ideas. It also provides a powerful tool for communicating science. In this presentation Dr. Edie Widder will share some of her favorite examples of where science has benefited from art, as well some examples of ORCA’s scientific findings that she believes could benefit from an artist’s interpretation.
This presentation is part of ORCA's 2nd Annual Data Jam (https://www.teamorca.org/data-jam.html), a competition that challenges participants--students & adults-- to look at real science datasets and come up with an artistic way to convey the findings. Art created by local students and adult participants will be on display.
