The Four C’s Caring Children, Clothing Children Our mission is to provide top quality, gently used clothing and a helping hand towards literacy to underprivileged children in Martin County, In 2020, we provided 30,000 items of clothing to 3,334 children who visited the store. The Four C’s will be holding a special fundraiser “The 3rd Annual Derby Day Benefit” as people come together to celebrate the Kentucky Derby on May 1st, 2021. From April 19th-24th, join the Children's Home Society as we run/walk for Childhood Abuse Prevention Month! Mike will be speaking with Emily Mass about the investment in the future of children and families in the Treasure Coast. Treasure Coast Team members can participate in person in Palm Beach or VIRTUALLY in support of families in our community!

The Litem program advocates for over 1000 abused, abandoned, and neglected children across the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee counties. There are currently hundreds of children waiting for a caring adult to be their voice in the child welfare system. These children are also looking for a positive role model, not just to navigate the welfare system but to toss a ball around with, someone to talk to that takes interest in their lives. This week on Treasure Coast Happening Mike will speak to the people that bring us ShrimpFest & Craft Brew Hullabaloo the annual 3-day celebration of America’s most loved seafood, held in the historic city of Sebastian. The weekend long festival, brought to you by the Rotary Club of Sebastian and the Exchange Club of Fellsmere, will raise funds to support youth sports and organizations throughout North Indian River County. Come enjoy the live music, the numerous food trucks, and as always we recommend wearing a mask in public places, especially when social distancing is difficult.

This week in Treasure Coast Happenings, Mike speaks to Xaque Gruber. Xaque's latest art exhibition starts this weekend at the Center for Spiritual Care. This savvy artist calls Vero Beach his home, has done quite a bit of TV work in Los Angeles and his first feature film a comedy called Sallyland, starring Sally Kirkland, Jennifer Tilly, Eric Roberts, Keith Carridine, and Michael Lerner; (Which he wrote and directed) is scheduled for release later this year. By the way that’s four Oscar nominees and one Oscar Winner, we’ll talk about what it’s like to direct a star-studded cast as well as his art show this week on Treasure Coast Happenings.

Mike speaks with Warren Obluck about a new exhibit in Vero Beach featuring Spence Guerin’s many professional awards and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Alaska State Arts Council. He was represented in New York by the Tatistscheff Gallery. Guerin has lived in Melbourne most of his life. This exhibition is his first solo exhibition in Vero Beach, will include new pieces as well as a sampling of earlier works.The Center for Spiritual Care is located at 1550 24th St. in Vero Beach, two blocks north of the Main Public Library. Since the start of the Connected for Seniors Program in August 2020, Indian River CARES has delivered over 2,000 “room brighteners” to seniors.
